What a weekend! The student art show opened on campus yesterday, which was great. Six of the seven pieces I submitted were accepted into the show. The accepted works are:

But here's the best part: every year at the student show they give out scholarships. I didn't want to plan on getting one, but I figured getting six out of seven pieces accepted was a pretty good indicator that I might, considering the next best ratio I'd heard was four of seven. Well, I got one. Better yet, they actually invented a scholarship for me. They pulled out $2000 from the fund, slapped the title "Best of Show" on it, and gave it to me. They'd never given a "Best of Show" scholarship before. I about died. What a day.
While I'm at it, congrats to my great friend Anna Meyer, who was given the largest scholarship they hand out. I wish she had a DA page I could link you guys to. She's a spectacularly talented artist.
To make the weekend even better, Spring Weekend was a spectacular success. For those of you who are non-Concordians, SW is a fun-filled weekend in which teams of students compete in lots of ridiculous games and such things, including dance routine-like events. The team of boys who I have been supporting for three years now (they've dubbed me Team Mom because I'm around so much and have provided them with food every year) finally took the championship! They won all three of the "big events" (those being the dance-like ones) and generally kicked ass all weekend. I am so proud of them! And yes, we all regularly screamed like little girls when good event results were posted...

As one final bit of news, I started a Tumblr account a couple months back, which can be found here
[link] It's got a little bit of my art floating around it, but is mostly just a lot of images or videos that I enjoy. I update once every day, rather than every five minutes in hopes that my posts actually can be somewhat interesting and count for something... I try not to reblog if I can help it so maybe the stuff you find there won't be something you've seen a thousand times, and I link back to where I've found things when possible. If you've got a Tumblr account, feel free to follow me. If not, go ahead and enjoy it anyway.
Oh, and I've still got some prints left from my sale if anyone wants some. More info here:
